” We all know the human voice is a musical instrument. But few artists push the point as literally as Petra Haden.

For several years now, the singer has used her voice alone to re-create the sound and feel of every instrument in a given work. Haden started out with “The Who Sell Out,” re-creating that entire 1967 concept album in her throat. Then, in 2007, she cooked up an a cappella take on Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” that beat “Glee” to the punch by two years with a cascading vocal intro the show may well have nicked…”
